Our charity pledge to Depaul UK #JustLet2Donate
Depaul UK are a charity which works with young people who have been affected by homelessness, or have found themselves in a difficult situation which has forced them out of their homes. Homelessness is an unfortunate reality for many young people in London.
When people fall into a desperate situation they can turn to Depaul for advice, support and safe shelter. They also provide a helping hand for the reintroduction into education, employment and permanent housing.
Why we support Depaul ❤️
At Leonard Leese we have been a proud supporter of Depaul by hosting fundraising events and running marathons to raise awareness of the plight of young people. We pride ourselves on standing apart from the stereotypical estate agency. We believe in the investment of people, the customers who use our service, the staff who work for us and those who are apart of our community. Ultimately- we care.
Being an independent business and based in Borough, we are compelled to want to give back to our community because we love it so much! Whether that is by supporting local businesses or by fundraising for charities.
Last year, one of our team, Toby Bailey, ran the London Marathon (again!) and raised an amazing £2,000 for Depaul, read our blog to see how he raised money and smashed his marathon personal record here
It’s fundraising like this that inspired us to get more involved as a whole company with Depaul. The mission statement for Depaul resonated with us and we would like the opportunity to help them reach it.
‘With support from our team and customers at Leonard Leese, we hope to help Depaul UK stamp out homelessness for good!’
Our Pledge
#JustLet2Donate
We pledge that for every property that is let by Leonard Leese we will donate £50 to Depaul UK
This means we can regularly contribute to this worthy cause and with that money they can help young people back on their feet. In 2017 we reached our target of £3,000 for this campaign and this year we aim to at least do the same!!
The money raised from the properties will potentially change young people’s lives for the better. Not only will the money raised contribute to the shelter and safe housing of young people, but it also provides the support needed for the little things that may not seem important but are paramount to help individuals progress pass homelessness. For example:
£50 |
Could pay for a young person to get involved in meaningful activity such as sporting clubs, educational trips or the cost of travel for work experience. |
£75 |
Could help a young person get “Suited and Booted” in preparation for an interview or to start their new job. |
£100 |
Could help us to recruit a new host for Nightstop, helping ensure we never have to turn a young person away. |
£120 |
Could support 3 family mediation sessions for a young person that wants to return home, enough on average to prevent homelessness. |
£250 |
Could pay for a week of volunteer led training sessions to enable young people to develop independent living skills and progress beyond homelessness. |
Real people, Real stories
